The regular meeting of the Town of Brusly was held this date, December 12, 2005, at the Brusly Town Hall. Mayor Joey Normand called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.. Council Member Andre’ led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:

Council Members: David Rodrigue, Ronda Perrault,
Shane Andre’, Joanne Bourgeois, Chris Kershaw
Town Attorney: Jamie Fontenot

A motion to approve the minutes of the Town’s Regular Meeting of November 14, 2005, was made by Council Member Perrault, seconded by Council Member Kershaw and passed with all members votingMembers in favor.
Mayor Normand introduced West Baton Rouge School Superintendent, David Corona, who gave the progress report for the parishParish schools. The parishParish had 60% exemplary growth. The following results were given: one 3 star school (Brusly High);), six 2 star schools and three 1 star schools. There were no schools rated as unacceptable.
Public Works: Mayor Normand made a recommendation to accept Coburn’s of Baton Rouge as the Town’s culvert supplier.Culvert Supplier. Council Member Bourgeois made a motion to accept Coburn’s bid and seconded by Council Member Perrault; motion passed.
Planning and Zoning: The Planning Commission, at its November meeting, recommended the approval of the preliminary plat of the Gates at the Oaks Subdivision. A motion to approve the recommendation of the Planning Commission was made by Council Member Perrault and seconded by Council Member Rodrigue. A roll call had the following results:

Nays: None
Absent: None
Personnel Committee: Council Member Bourgeois made a motion to approve the 2006 Holiday Schedule; schedule, and seconded by Council Member Perrault and passed with all members in favor.
Recreation Committee: Council Member Bourgeois reported that the Town completed its application for recertification as a Tree City.
Introduction of Ordinances: Ordinance #1-Town Budget Adjustment was introduced by Council Member Kershaw.
Resolutions and Commendations: A motion to approve Resolution #6-DEQ Environment Audit, was made by Council Member Andre’ and seconded by Council Member Bourgeois. The motion passed with all in favor.
Fire Department: Fire Chief Mike Alleman gave the Fire Chief’s Report for November 2005. There was one first aid call inside the town and 16 first aid calls outside the town. There was one fire call inside the town and no fire calls outside the town. There was one fire investigation and seven motor vehicle crashes. There were four mutual aids to Addis and one motor vehicle fire resulting in 31 total calls for the month and 337 total calls for the year.
Police Department: Report for the month of October was given by Officer Robertson. He stated that there were seven wrecks, five damage to properties, two disturbing the peace, three thefts, five alarms, one assistance with fire, five assistances to other agencies, one drug arrest, seven traffic arrests, five bench warrants, and 15 miscellaneous calls. There were ten juvenile matters for a total of 53 calls and 390 citations for the month of November.
Remarks of Personal Privilege: Parish Council Member Jeff Kershaw addressedaddresses the Town Council with an the update on the parishParish growth. Council Member Bourgeois stated that Ray Scriber of the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation will attend our March 6th committee meeting and explain procedures
for creating a Historic District.
A motion was made by Council Member Andre’ to adjourn; seconded by Council Member Kershaw. The motion passed with a unanimous vote and the meeting adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
Announcements: Mayor announced that a ceremony will be held at Lukeville Upper Elementary School to dedicate the State Historic Marker on November 16th at 10 a.m.. Planning and Zoning rescheduled meeting dates are November 17th and December 21st.
A motion was made by Council Member Andre’ to adjourn; seconded by Council Member Kershaw. The motion passed with a unanimous vote; and the meeting adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
