Town Meeting Minutes – Friday, March 18, 2005

A special meeting of the Town of Brusly was called to order by Mayor Joey Normand this date, March 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brusly Town Hall. The Mayor announced that all cell phones are to be turned off or silenced.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Kershaw.

A roll call by Town Clerk Jules Lefeaux determined the following officials present:

Mayor: Joey Normand
Council Members: David Rodrigue, Joanne Bourgeois,
Shane Andre’, Chris Kershaw
Absent: Ronda Perrault
Attorney: Jamie Fontenot

Mayor Normand called for Agenda Item 4, a recommendation by the Chief of Police. Chief Jamie Whaley recommended the termination of the employment of Police Officer Dexter Walker. Mayor Normand advised that Chief Whaley had kept him abreast of what has been happening, and he concurs with Chief Whaley’s recommendation. Council Member Kershaw asked if the Chief’s findings were documented, and Chief Whaley stated they were. A motion was made by Council Member Rodrigue to terminate the employment of Police Officer Dexter Walker, effective immediately. The motion was seconded by Council Member Andre’. A roll call vote by Town Clerk Lefeaux had the following result:

YEAS: Rodrigue, Bourgeois, Andre, Kershaw
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Perrault

The motion passed with four council members in favor, and one absent.

A motion was made by Council Member Andre’ to adjourn, seconded by Council Member Kershaw. The motion was unopposed. The meeting adjourned at 1:02 p.m.
