MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY LANDMARK & HERITAGE COMMISSION
July 17, 2023
A meeting of the Brusly Landmark and Heritage Commission was held on Monday July 17, 2023, at Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Chairman Rills called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Commissioner Bourgeois led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following:
Commission Chairman: Jim Rills
Commission Members Present: Billy Bourgeois, Margaret Canella, Brian Falcon, Brian Parsons, Henry Soniat
Commission Members Absent: Edward Dupuy
Advisory Members Present: Billy Hebert
Advisory Members Absent: Scarlet Callicoatte
Others present: Joanne Bourgeois
Upon motion by Commissioner Falcon; seconded by Commissioner Bourgeois, the minutes of the April 17, 2023, meeting were unanimously approved as written.
Landmark Plaque Applications:
Ms. Joanne Bourgeois narrated a slide presentation accompanying a Landmark Plaque application for the home at 346 Lee Drive, presently owned by Jules & Patricia Lefeaux.
Upon the conclusion of the presentation, a motion to recommend the home to the Town Council as a Landmark Plaque recipient was made by Commissioner Soniat; seconded by Commissioner Canella. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Falcon narrated a slide presentation of aerial photos depicting the development of Courtney Estates from 1959 through 1967.

Public Comment:
Advisory Member Billy Hebert reported that there will be a West Baton Rouge Acadian Heritage Celebration Sunday, July 23rd, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at St John the Baptist Catholic Church Activity Center.
Adjournment:
A motion was made by Commissioner Bourgeois to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Canella. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. Commission Chairman Rills adjourned the meeting at 6:47 PM.
