Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, July 27, 2011

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
July 27, 2011

A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday July 27, 2011 in the Council Chambers, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Mr. Fontenot called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Claudette Purnell.

Members absent: Gary Soniat. Steve Perkins, Jeff Travasos.

Others present: Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois, Chris Kershaw,
Shawn Hima.

Upon motion of Mrs. Purnell, seconded by Mr. Thibodaux seconded the Minutes of the June 22, 2011 meeting were approved.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Upon unanimous approval, the agenda was amended to hold the election of officers at the end of the meeting.

ZONING BUSINESS

No items submitted.

PLANNING BUSINESS

Shawn Hima with Alvin Fairburn & Associates, representing his client, BLD Builders, Inc. submitted a plat entitled “Revised Preliminary Plat Orleans Quarters Subdivision, 2nd Filing for review. He requested to be placed on the Agenda for the August 24, 2011 meeting for a Public Hearing. The proposed subdivision consists of Tract B, Dane D’Armond Property and the Henry Melancon property located on the North side of Orleans Quarters Subdivision. Mr. Hima advised that BLD Builders, Inc. is in the process of purchasing both properties. Mayor Normand requested a letter from BLD Builders, Inc. authorizing Alvin Fairburn & Associates to represent them at the Town Meetings. Mr. Hima indicated that he would bring the letter of authorization to the Mayor.

OTHER BUSINESS

Due to the resignation of Shane Sarradet from the Planning & Zoning Commission, an election was held to replace him as Chairman. Officers elected: Carroll Fontenot, Chairman; Rosa Stelly, Vice Chairman.

There was no other business to come before the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Purnell seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission adjourned at 6:38 PM.
