MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
August 24, 2011
A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday August 24, 2011 in the Council Chambers, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Mrs. Stelly, Vice Chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Rosa Stelly, Jeff Travasos, Claudette Purnell.
Members absent: Carroll Fontenot, Gary Soniat. Steve Perkins.
Others present: Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois, Henry Melancon,
Hubert Thibodeaux, Janet Tassin and a group of
Orleans Quarters residents.
Upon motion of Mr., Thibodeaux, seconded by Mr. Travasos, the Minutes of the July 27, 2011 meeting were approved as written.
No items submitted.
1. PUBLIC HEARING on Preliminary Plat of Orleans Quarters Subdivision 2nd Filing.
Mrs. Stelly opened the public hearing and read an e-mail letter to Mayor Normand from Shawn Hima, with Alvin Fairburn & Associates requesting to have the “Preliminary Plat for Orleans Quarters 2nd Filing” deferred due their addressing design comments received on the project and the need to make revisions to the plan.
Mayor Normand was recognized. He explained that a question on right of passage across a strip of land retained by the property owner and donated to the Homeowners Association brought about a meeting with the developer and the Orleans Quarters Homeowners Association. Results were that the association will hold a meeting of the homeowners to discuss the matter and based upon their decision, a new set of drawings will be submitted.
Mrs. Angela Adolph, 1531 Orleans Quarters Drive, was recognized. She stated that their paramount consideration when looking Orleans Quarters property was because it was a smaller subdivision. She referred to the number of lots (1-78) listed in the Subdivision Covenants and felt that since it was originally submitted as a 78 lot subdivision, it should remain so.
There were no other questions or comments. Mrs. Stelly closed the Public Hearing at 6:40 PM.
Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to reschedule a Public Hearing for September 28, 2011 pending submission of a revised plat. Mr. Travasos seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
There was no other business to come before the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Mrs. Purnell made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
The meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission adjourned at 6:45 PM.
