Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – January 2024

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
January 24, 2024

The meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on this date, January 24, 2024, at the Brusly Town Hall. Chairman LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.  Commissioner Perkins led the Pledge of Allegiance.  A roll call determined the following officials present:

Commissioners:         Steve Guidry, Kim LeMoine, Steve Perkins, Ronda Perrault, Cindy Popleon,
Gary Soniat, Jeff Travasos
Absent:                       None
Others Present:          Joseph B. Bres

A motion to approve the minutes of the December 27, 2023, meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner Travasos and seconded by Commissioner Guidry. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning:
Chairman LeMoine read aloud and opened the public hearing to consider amending Sec. 120-152. C-1 Light Commercial to add in Subparagraph, (A) Uses Permitted, “small animal grooming and/or boarding where animals are kept indoors;” and to amend in Subparagraph (B) Uses Prohibited, “outdoor kennels;”

Mr. Joseph B. Bres introduced himself and spoke in favor of the changes to the ordinance. Mr. Bres explained that the service is needed and would be an asset to the community.

Hearing no other comments, Chairman LeMoine closed the public hearing and turned the matter over to the Commission. A motion to recommend the changes to Sec. 120-152, as proposed, to the Town Council, was made by Commissioner Perrault; seconded by Commissioner Soniat. A roll call vote was had with the following results:

Yeas:               Guidry, LeMoine, Perkins, Perrault, Popleon, Soniat, Travasos
Nays:               None
Absent:           None

Announcements:  None

Commissioner Travasos made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Perkins. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM.
