Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, February 22, 2006

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING COMMISSION
February 22, 2006

A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning Commission was held on Wednesday February 22, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:30 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson,
Rosa Stelly.

Members absent: Shane Sarradet, Steve Perkins, Claudette Purnell.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Joanne Bourgeois, Donnie Jarreau &
Jim Tatum.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll Fontenot and seconded by Mr. Jules Thibodaux, the minutes of the November 17, 2005 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously. There was no meeting in December 2005 due to holidays and no meeting in January 2006 due to lack of a quorum.

Election of officers was held for the year 2006. Upon motion of Mr. Jules Thibodaux, seconded by Mrs. Rosa Stelly, Mrs. Debbie Thompson was re-elected Chairperson and Mr. Carroll Fontenot was re-elected Vice Chairperson. Motion carried unanimously.
There was no other business to come before the Planning Commission.

Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting of the Planning Commission adjourned at 6:45 PM.

MINUTES OF BRUSLY ZONING COMMISSION
February 22, 2006

A regular monthly meeting of the Brusly Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday February 22, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:45 PM.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson, Rosa Stelly.

Members absent: Shane Sarradet, Steve Perkins, Claudette Purnell.

Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Joanne Bourgeois, Donnie Jarreau &
Jim Tatum.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll Fontenot, seconded by Mr. Jules Thibodaux the Minutes of the November 17, 2005 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously. There was no meeting in December 2005 due to holidays and no meeting in January 2006 due to lack of a quorum.

Mr. Jim Tatum of Tatum Engineers was recognized. He presented a rezoning request for Mr. Donnie Jarreau on the property located off of St. Francis Street between The Oaks Shopping Center and the Stormwater Management Area. He advised that Mr. Jarreau plans to build apartments and town homes on the property and displayed drawings of the proposed project. Discussion followed on what zoning will be required for this type of development. Discussion centered around the possibility of two separate zones: R-4 (Multi Family Residential) for the apartments and R-6 (Town House Residential) for the Town Homes. In this case some resubdivision of the lots involved would be necessary and can be taken up at the same time as the rezoning. Mr. Tatum was advised that this matter would be discussed with Mr. Don Neisler, Director of the Planning & Zoning Commission and he will be advised accordingly. Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to place Mr. Jarreau’s request for rezoning on the Agenda for the April 26, 2006 meeting. Mr. Carroll Fontenot seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. The secretary advised Mr. Tatum that the information should be submitted to allow time for three publications in the official journal prior to the meeting date.

There was no other business to come before the commission.

Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Meeting of the Zoning Commission adjourned at 7:05 PM.
