BRUSLY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 24, 2003
A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning Commission was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:33 P.M.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson, Rosa Stelly, Henry Couvillon.
Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Leslie Crockett.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand, Chris Kershaw, Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Jason Safford, Jim Tatum, and a group of approximately ten town citizens.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll Fontenot seconded by Mrs. Rosa Stelly, the minutes of the August 28, 2003 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously.
The Chairman opened the public hearing on the request for approval of the Final Plat of Brusly Oaks Subdivision, 1st Filing.
Mayor Joey Normand was recognized. He recommended approval of the plat and submitted the required letter of recommendation to the commission. He stated that the fence was still under construction but substantially completed and that Entergy was presently running the electric service.
Mr. Jim Tatum with Tatum Engineers was recognized and stated that with the exception of a few minor adjustments, they stayed almost exactly with the preliminary plat. Councilman Chris Kershaw added that all changes from the preliminary plat were brought before the town council and approved as they happened.
The Chairperson asked Mr. Don Neisler for his opinion. He advised that all items were addressed and he did not see any problems with approval of the plat.
There were no comments or objections from the public. The Chairperson closed the public hearing.
Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to recommend approval of the “Final Plat of Brusly Oaks Subdivision, 1st Filing” to the Town Council. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Under other business, the Mayor submitted a re-drafted copy of the Subdivision Ordinance for the members to review. Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to hold a public hearing on the ordinance changes at the next meeting on October 22, 2003. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
There was no other business to come before the Planning Commission.
Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Jules Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
The meeting of the Planning Commission adjourned at 6:45 P.M.

MINUTES OF BRUSLY ZONING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 24, 2003
A regular monthly meeting of the Brusly Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:46 P.M.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson, Rosa Stelly, Henry Couvillon.
Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Leslie Crockett.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand, Chris Kershaw, Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Jason Safford, Jim Tatum, and a group of approximately ten town citizens.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll Fontenot, seconded by Mr. Jules Thibodaux, the minutes of the August 27, 2003 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Chairperson Debbie Thompson opened the Public Hearing on the proposed revisions to the following in Section 19.23. Definitions Town of Brusly Code Zoning Ordinance: (1) “Accessory Structures”, (a), and (21) “House Addition” (e) and (f). The proposed amendment would delete the limits on size of added structures relative to principal structure size.
Mayor Joey Normand explained that this limit was set when they revised the Zoning Ordinance and it soon became evident that it is too restrictive, therefore he is recommending that the ordinance will revert back to as it was.
There was no further discussion or opposition to this item. The Chairperson closed the public hearing.
Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to recommend the Town Council approve the change to the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Henry Couvillon seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
There was no other business to come before the Zoning Commission.
Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Jules Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
