PUBLIC HEARING:

1) Request submitted under Section 19-8 (subdivision not fronting on a public street) by Michael Pourciau, Jr. for approval of Tract SSA-5 Southside Acres Subdivision, Third Filing in order to develop said tract into a single-family residential lot.

The Commission Members reviewed the plat and noted that it reflected changes requested during review at the July 27, 2005 meeting. The location of the building line on this tract was questioned and it was determined that it should conform to the same requirements as the other lots of the subdivision that front on Floyd Street. Mr. Skipper Grady was recognized. He wanted to know what was the purpose of the request. He was advised that upon meeting all requirements of Section 19-8 and approval thereof, Mr. Pourciau could develop this tract into a single-family residential lot. A copy of the plat was made available and he was given time to review it. He had no further questions. There were no other questions or comments from those present and no opposition to this request. The Chairperson closed the public hearing.

Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to recommend that the Town Council approve Mr. Pourciau’s request for approval of “Map Showing Tract SSA-5, Southside Acres Subdivision, Third Filing” by Charles R. St. Romain, Land Surveyor dated 8/1/05 with the stipulation that the 30’ building line be moved to conform to the building lines of the subdivision lots fronting on Floyd Street. Mr. Carroll Fontenot seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

There was no other business to come before the Planning Commission.

The meeting of the Planning Commission adjourned at 6:40 PM.

Under other business, Mr. James Landess Hebert was recognized. He stated that he is the owner of a lot measuring 115’ X 424.30’ in Section 14, T8S, R12E fronting on LA 1 Service Road in the Town of Brusly and known as the location of Brusly’s Café. He advised that his purpose for coming before the commission tonight is to request information on procedure for rezoning the back portion of said lot (115’ X 124’) from R-1 to C-1 since it is all one piece of property and he cannot do much with such a small lot where it is located. He was advised to fill out a request for rezoning at with the Town’s Administrative Office to be submitted to the Secretary of the Commission and he would be placed on the Agenda for a public hearing at the September meeting.

There was no other business to come before the Zoning Commission.

Mr. Carroll Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Jules Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
