Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, April 23, 2014

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
April 23, 2014

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, April 23, 2014 at the Brusly Town Hall. Chairman LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Commissioner Purnell led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:
Chairman: Kim LeMoine
Commissioners: Ronda Perrault, Gary Soniat, Steve Perkins,
Claudette Purnell
Absent: Wayne Broussard, Jeff Travasos,
Others present included Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Wilfred Hebert, Bryan Aguillard and Rosa Stelly.

A motion to approve the minutes of March 26, 2014 regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning, as written, was made by Commissioner Perrault and seconded by Commissioner Soniat. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning:
Chairman LeMoine read aloud a variance request for Non-Compliance, Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1, Rear Setback for Wilfred R. Hebert Jr. at 1227 W. Main St. to build a carport. Mr. Hebert explained he would like to build an open carport to the rear of the existing residence which would require changing the setback from 10 feet to 3 feet. After a brief discussion, a motion to recommend the variance to the Town Council was made by Commissioner Perrault; seconded by Commissioner Perkins. A roll call vote was had with the following results:
Yeas: Perrault, LeMoine, Soniat, Perkins, Purnell
Nays: None
Absent: Broussard, Travasos

Planning:
Chairman LeMoine read aloud a variance request for Non-Compliance, Sec. 19.6 Servitude Encroachment for Bryan Aguillard at 3056 Orleans Quarters Dr., to encroach upon the drainage servitude to build a patio. Mr. Aguillard explained he would like to build a patio on the rear of his home which would encroach upon the drainage servitude by 8 feet. Mr. Aguillard also explained that he would be putting in culverts to cover the existing drainage ditch. After a brief discussion, a motion to recommend the variance to the Town Council was made by Commissioner Soniat; seconded by Commissioner Perrault. A roll call vote was had with the following results:
Yeas: LeMoine, Soniat, Perkins, Purnell, Perrault
Nays: None
Absent: Broussard, Travasos

Other Business:
Recording Secretary Thibodaux reported the progress being made on having new zoning maps printed that would reflect the approved zoning changes made in recent years. Rosa Stelly suggested the updated map, once completed, be placed on the Town’s website.

Announcements: None

A motion was made by Commissioner Purnell to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Perrault. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:37 PM.
