Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Monday, October 6, 2008

MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2008

A special meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Vice-Chairman Carroll Fontenot called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Claudette Purnell.

Members absent: Shane Sarradet, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Joey Normand,
Town Council Members, Alonzo Cyrus, Anthony White,
Marlene Benedetto and several Brusly residents.

Mr. Fontenot introduced the following request:

1. Alonzo Cyrus – Variance for a mobile home older than 5 years.

Mr. Alonzo Cyrus resided in an older mobile home at 539 Gwin Street that was totally demolished by Hurricane Gustave on September 1, 2008 and wants to replace it with a 1987 model, 14’ x 80’ mobile home he will purchase from Mrs. Marlene Benedetto. Mayor Joey Normand was recognized; he recommended that this mobile home would be an improvement to the one that was destroyed.

Photographs of the mobile home were provided to members and it was determined that it is in good condition.

Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to recommend that the Town Council approve the variance and allow Mr. Cyrus to place the 1987 mobile home on the property due to the circumstances. Mrs. Purnell seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

There was no other business to come before the commission.

Mrs. Stelly made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 6:05 PM.
