Council Member Bourgeois gave an update on what the Landmark & Heritage Commission has accomplished since its inception in 2006 as follows:

TOWN OF BRUSLY
LANDMARK AND HERITAGE COMMISSION

The Town of Brusly, through its Landmark and Heritage Commission, recognizes homes and properties by awarding certified Landmark plaques to eligible properties, within the Town limits. The program began in 2008
to identify those homes and properties which are important in the history
of the Town.

By recognizing the history of our community, we are connecting those who lived before us to the place we now live, while planning for the future. Through the identification of the homes and structures, we are preserving the stories of those who once lived in them and handing on the history to present and future generations. In a rapidly changing world, the stories of those who once lived here are important to helping others become aware of the spirit which makes Brusly a special place to call home.

The Landmark and Heritage Commission strives to recognize all homes and properties, over 50 years old, and their stories about the people who lived and worked here. It is a sincere effort to involve all who have contributed to the history of our small community. Since the inception of the Landmark and Heritage Commission, the Town of Brusly has completed the following endeavors to recognize our rich history:

1. Awarded Landmark Plaques to 146 homes/properties;
2. Installed 5 State of Louisiana Historic Markers to recognize –
