1780’s The Acadian exiles arrived to settle the area, receiving Spanish Land Grants circa 1785.

Jacques Molaison arrived, along with other Acadian exiles who had been living in France, received a Spanish land grant and established a mercantile, and the settlement of “Molaisonville” grew around his property.
It is not known exactly when the settlement name was changed.
