Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, October 24, 2012

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
October 24, 2012

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, October 24, 2012 at the Brusly Town Hall. Vice-Chairperson Ronda Perrault called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Commissioner Purnell led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:

Vice-Chairperson: Ronda Perrault
Commissioners: Kim LeMoine, Jeff Travasos, Gary Soniat, Claudette Purnell
Absent: Rosa Stelly, Steve Perkins
Others present included Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Landess Hebert, Tom Acosta, Jonathan Starns, Dixie Daigle, James Morin and Cheryl Ordeneaux.
A motion to approve the minutes of September 26, 2012 as written, was made by Commissioner Soniat and seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning: None

Planning:
Vice-Chairperson Perrault opened the Public Hearing on the proposed Map showing Subdivision of a certain 16.27 Acre Tract of Land, into TRACTS 1 & 2 Located in Section 55, T8S – R12E, Southeast Land District, West of Mississippi River, West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana for DAGR, LLC

Mr. Jonathan Starns introduced himself as one of the owners of the property. Mr. Starns explained the reason for the request to subdivide was to section off the front part of the property where the existing house is located, (539 N. LaBauve Ave.) for future sale. There was a brief discussion about access to the property behind the house, if the property is subdivided. It was concluded that access could be had from the rear of the property off Orleans Quarters Drive at the point where it meets Orleans West Subdivision.

Vice-Chairperson closed the public hearing and called for any motions.
It was determined that the lot meets R-1 zoning requirements therefore a motion to recommend the subdivision map, with corrected spelling of owners’ names, to the Town Council, was made by Commissioner LeMoine; seconded by Commissioner Soniat. The motion passed unanimously.

Announcements:
The annual election for Planning & Zoning Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary will be held at the November 28, 2012 meeting.

A motion was made by Commissioner Purnell to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner LeMoine. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:50 PM.
