MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
MAY 25, 2016
The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, May 25, 2016, at the Brusly Town Hall. Vice Chair Travasos called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.
Commissioner Purnell led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:
Vice Chair: Jeff Travasos
Commissioners: Kim LeMoine, Steve Perkins, Claudette Purnell, Gary Soniat
Absent: Steve Guidry, Ronda Perrault
Vice Chair Travasos announced that there were no minutes for the month of April, due to a lack of quorum.
A motion to approve the minutes of March 23, 2016 regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner LeMoine and seconded by Commissioner Perkins. The minutes were approved unanimously.
Zoning:
Vice Chair Travasos read aloud the Variance Request from Connie Banta at 3130 Live Oak Dr. for Non-Compliance – Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 – to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 3’ to build a shed. Ms. Banta explained her request and presented a written statement from the adjoining property owner, to the Commission, stating there was no objection to the variance. After a brief discussion, Commissioner LeMoine offered a motion to recommend approval to the Town Council; seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The motion passed unanimously.
Planning:
Vice Chair Travasos opened the floor to allow Mr. Jim Tatum, of Tatum Engineering Consultants, representing Donnie Jarreau, to present an update on the River Mill Reserve 3rd Filing Project. Mr. Tatum explained after talking with the residents of the neighboring subdivision, minor changes have been made to the previously approved Preliminary Plat of River Mill Reserve 3rd Filing, in order to address the concerns voiced. The changes included adjusting the size of several lots to create a 15 foot landscaping buffer along with the existing 15 foot drainage servitude between the two subdivisions, resulting in a 30 foot green space buffer. There were no objections voiced to this change, either by the Commission or the public.
Vice Chair Travasos read aloud the Variance Request from A. P. Dodson, LLC for lots A-3, A-4, A-5, A-6 & A-7 of Orleans West 2nd Filing – Non- Compliance Sec. 19.13.b Servitudes for Utilities – to reduce the Utility Servitude from 15’ to 10’. Vice Chair Travasos opened the floor to anyone representing the variance request. Hearing no representative or explanation for the variance request, a motion to table the request was made by Commissioner Perkins; seconded by Commissioner LeMoine. The motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner LeMoine to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Perkins. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 PM
