MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 26, 2006

A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning Commission was held on Wednesday July 26, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:30 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson,
Rosa Stelly, Shane Sarradet.

Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand,
Joanne Bourgeois, Gordon Hebert, Jr., Thomas Olinde.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll Fontenot, seconded by Mr. Jules Thibodaux, the Minutes of the June 28, 2006 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Plats submitted:

1. The Gates at the Oaks” Subdivision (1st filing).

Upon request of the owners, the plans for this subdivision are being re-submitted for approval as two separate filings. The plat was reviewed and it was determined that there were no significant changes to this portion as shown on the original preliminary plat that was recommended for approval in November of 2005. Mayor Joey Normand was recognized. He advised that the owners are asking for this change in order to market the lots fronting on West Main Street. Upon discussion, it was determined that another public hearing is not necessary.

Mrs. Rosa Stelly made a motion to recommend approval of preliminary plat of “The Gates at the Oaks” Subdivision (1st filing). Mr. Shane Sarradet seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

2. Preliminary plat showing the resubdivision of the western portion Tract X-4-A, The Oaks Subdivision for Mr. Donnie Jarreau.

Since there was no one present to represent Mr. Jarreau, this item was deferred to the end of the meeting to allow Mr. Jarreau or his representative time to arrive.

Under other business, Mr. Gordon Hebert, Jr. was recognized. He presented a schematic plan for subdividing a lot from his father’s property at 389 Hwy. 1 South. He advised that the property is being surveyed and he will submit the plat in time for the August meeting. Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to hold a public hearing on this request at the next meeting. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

There was no other business to come before the Planning Commission and no one showed up to represent Mr. Donnie Jarreau on his request for approval of the “Preliminary plat showing the resubdivision of the western portion Tract X-4-A, The Oaks Subdivision”.

Mr. Carol Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Shane Sarradet seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting of the Planning Commission adjourned at 6:37 P.M.

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY ZONING COMMISSION
July 26, 2006

A regular monthly meeting of the Brusly Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday July 26, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Debbie Thompson at 6:37 PM.
Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson,
Rosa Stelly, Shane Sarradet.

Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand,
Joanne Bourgeois, Thomas Olinde.

There was no other business to come before the Zoning Commission.

Mr. Carol Fontenot made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Shane Sarradet seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting of the Zoning Commission adjourned at 6:40 PM.

ADDENDUM TO THE MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 26, 2006

Upon motion of Mrs. Rosa Stelly, seconded by Mr. Carol Fontenot, the regular meeting of the Brusly Planning Commission held on Wednesday July 26, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana was re-opened by Chairperson Debbie Thompson to allow Mr. Donnie Jarreau to present his request for approval of “Preliminary plat showing the resubdivision of the western portion Tract X-4-A, The Oaks Subdivision”. The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson, Rosa Stelly, Shane Sarradet.

Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand,
Joanne Bourgeois, Thomas Olinde, Donnie Jarreau,
Skipper Grady.

Mr. Jarreau was recognized. He apologized for being late, stating that he was held up in traffic. He had a schematic plan for viewing and advised that the property would be divided into thirteen lots for thirteen town homes. He advised that Mr. Jim Tatum of Tatum Engineers would have the plat completed and ready for submittal in time for the August meeting.

Mr. Carol Fontenot made a motion to hold a public hearing on this request at the August Meeting. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

There was no other business to be taken up. Mr. Jarreau thanked the commission for allowing him the time to present the request.

Mrs. Rosa Stelly made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Carol Fontenot seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:47 PM.

ADDENDUM TO THE MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY ZONING COMMISSION
JULY 26, 2006

Upon motion of Mrs. Rosa Stelly, seconded by Mr. Carol Fontenot, the regular meeting of the Brusly Zoning Commission held on Wednesday July 26, 2006 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana was re-opened by Chairperson Debbie Thompson to allow Mr. Skipper Grady to present his request for rezoning the rear portion of his property on Main Street known as the “Old Ethel’s Seafood” property. The meeting was called to order at 6:48 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Debbie Thompson,
Rosa Stelly, Shane Sarradet.

Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand,
Joanne Bourgeois, Thomas Olinde, Donnie Jarreau, Skipper Grady.

Mr. Skipper Grady was recognized. He verbally submitted a request to rezone his property on Main Street known as the “Old Ethel’s Seafood Property” to R-6 (Town Homes). He stated that he would like for the portion fronting on Main Street to remain commercial and rezone the rear portion accordingly to accommodate his plans to build town homes. He had no plans to submit with his request. He advised that Patin Engineers is presently working on the plot plan and he would have it ready for submittal at the August Meeting.

Discussion followed on some concerns he had on rezoning the entire lot versus allowing the front portion of the property to remain commercial. He also inquired on the required zoning for Mini-Warehouse Storage Units. Since Mini-Warehouses are not specifically mentioned in the ordinance he was advised that the information should be obtained through the Administrative Office. Mr. Carol Fontenot made a motion to set a public hearing on this rezoning request for the August meeting. Mr. Jules Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

There was no other business to be taken up.
