MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
JULY 22, 2009

A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday July 22, 2009 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Mr. Fontenot called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Gary Soniat,
Claudette Purnell.

Members absent: Steve Perkins, Shane Sarradet.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois,
Sean Allain, Charles T. Daigle, Jr., Mrs. Edith Owens.

Upon motion by Mrs. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Thibodaux, the minutes of the June 24, 2009 meeting were approved as written.

PLANNING

1. Public Hearing – “Final Plat Showing the Resubdivision of Lot 67-A of Live Oak Place Subdivision, Lot 37 of Rodriguez Subdivision and Lot 47 of Hill Subdivision into Lots 67-A-1 and 67-A-2” for Sean Allain located at 3160 Live Oak Drive.

Mr. Fontenot opened the public hearing for comments. Mr. Allain provided copies of a revised plat showing servitude and utilities. There was no objection to the subdivision of this property. The public hearing was closed.

Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to recommend approval of “Final Plat Showing the Resubdivision of Lot 67-A of Live Oak Place Subdivision, Lot 37 of Rodriguez Subdivision and Lot 47 of Hill Subdivision into Lots 67-A-1 and 67-A-2”. Mrs. Purnell seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

ZONING

1. Request submitted by Charles T. Daigle, Jr. for a side setback variance of seven (7) feet from the east property line of his property at 1001 Blanchard Street to construct an addition to an existing storage building.

The plot plan was reviewed. Mr. Daigle explained that he wants to extend the existing building which is located three feet from the east side property line. He stated that the neighbors were contacted and they have no objection. Mrs. Edith Owens, a family member, was present and she confirmed his statement.

Mrs. Stelly made a motion to recommend the variance to the Town Council. Mrs. Purnell seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

Mr. Fontenot advised members of a letter received from Jim Tatum, Tatum Engineers, regarding construction of Oak Plaza Drive Extension. Mayor Normand explained that based upon a traffic study, DOTD is requiring two turning lanes and H. L. Laws & Company is appealing the requirement. He stated that due to the appeal, H. L. Laws has been given an extension on construction until November 2009.

There was no other business to come before the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Mrs. Purnell made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Thibodaux seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM.
