The regular meeting of the Town of Brusly was called to order this date, October 13, 2025, at the Brusly Town Hall, at 6:30 p.m., by Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle. Council Member Kershaw led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:
Mayor Pro-Temp: Rusty Daigle
Council Members: Young, Tassin, Chustz, Kershaw
Town Attorney: Thomas Acosta, Jr.
Absent: Mayor Scot Rhodes
Recognitions & Commendations:
Parish President Jason Manola gave a brief presentation on the Drainage Tax renewal that will be on the November 15th ballot.
Asst. Chief Southon presented Officer Corey Miller with the Brusly PD Life Saver Award for his actions in response to a bridge jumper call.
A motion to approve the minutes of the Town’s regular meeting of September 8, 2025, was made by Council Member Tassin; seconded by Council Member Chustz. Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle opened the floor for public comment. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote.
Public Works Committee:
Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle read the Public Works Report for the month of September, prepared by Public Works Supervisor Shane Sarradet. There were 1.6 inches of rainfall in the month; 3 SCADA alarms at our wastewater lift stations; 1 out of compliance test result at the Sewer Treatment Facility; trimmed low hanging limbs on Live Oak, Allene, and N. LaBauve; cleaned out main sewer line on front part of Allene; removed fallen tree out of cross canal on Orleans Quarters; fixed 2 sinkholes in Brusly Oaks Subdivision; swapped out a pump at Brusly Oaks Station; replaced fallen sign on Elaine Street; reported several consecutive power outages at sewer pond, cause unknown; official 911 address is now established at sewer treatment facility, 5201 Live Oak Extension; sample results at sewer pond since aerators and cover has been installed are very impressive.
Waste Pro roadside debris and out of cart pickup is scheduled for the week of October 13th.
Public Works Director, Shane Sarradet, gave a brief update on the Sewer Lagoon Project.

Finance Committee:
Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle noted that the “Budget to Actual Comparison Report” for September, is available for Council Members to review.
Personnel Committee:
One behalf of Chief Lefeaux, Asst. Chief Southon recommended Logan Anderson as a Part-Time Police Office at the rate of $22.51 an hour starting September 4, 2025. Council Member Kershaw motioned to approve; seconded by Council Member Chustz. Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle opened the floor for public comment. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote.

Governmental Affairs Committee:
A motion to set trick or treat hours for October 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, was made by Council Member Chustz; seconded by Council Member Tassin. Mayor Pro-Temp Daigle opened the floor for public comment. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote.

Police Department Report:
The Police Department Report for the month of September was given by Asst. Chief Southon. There was (1) abandoned (23) Agency Assists, (13) Alarms, (3) Animal Problems, (1) assaults, (1) Civil Problem, (2) Damaged Property, (6) Disturbances, (1) Extortion (2) Family Disturbances, (1) Fire, (2) Harassments, (3) Juvenile Problems, (14) Medical, (7) No Insurance Tows, (2) Obstruct Police, (2) Ordinance Violations, (1) Other Crimes Against Person, (4) Public Service, (1) Search/Rescue, (1) Suspicious, (8) Traffic Accidents, (11) Traffic Problems, (1) Trespassing, (4) Unlocks, (4) Warrants, and (2) Welfare Checks. For the month, there were 205 total citations and 253 violations.
Flock Activity: Identified and found missing child.
Drone Activity: Assisted in finding a suspect in Addis, who was apprehended on felonies.

Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day is Saturday October 25th 8am-Noon at Alexander Park.
Veteran’s Day Program at Brusly Town Hall November 11th at 8:30am.
Council Member Young made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Council Member Chustz. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting was adjourned at 6:57pm.
