Town Meeting Minutes – Monday, April 20, 2009

Brusly, Louisiana

A special meeting of the Town of Brusly was called to order by Mayor Normand this date, April 20, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at the Brusly Town Hall.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member André.

A roll call determined the following officials present:

Mayor: Joey Normand
Council Members: Thomas Olinde, Joanne Bourgeois,
Landess Hebert, Shane André
Absent: Chris Kershaw
Attorney: Tom Acosta, Jr.

Resolution #4 of 2009 – to authorize removal of a junk car from 1029 West Main Street was recommended by Mayor Normand. A motion to adopt was made by Council Member André; seconded by Council Member Hebert. The motion passed unanimously.

Chief Whaley recommended hiring Gary Normand to fill the position of Police Officer at the rate of $12.15 hr. starting on April 20, 2009. Attorney Acosta stated that Mr. Normand was in no way directly related to Mayor Normand. After a short discussion Council Member André motioned to accept the recommendation; seconded by Council Member Hebert. A roll call vote was taken with the following results:

YEAS: Olinde, André, Bourgeois, Hebert
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Kershaw

Remarks of Personal Privilege:
Chief Whaley reported that the Nuisance list was now cleared and he would be accepting any complaints of violations of the Town’s Nuisance Ordinance.

Council Member Bourgeois announced the Cleanest City Contest judging will be held on May 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.

Council Member Hebert requested information regarding when the trash removal inside Town. Mayor Normand explained that Allied Waste was running behind schedule and pick up for our area was still in progress.

A motion was made by Council Member André to adjourn, seconded by Council Member Olinde. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
