Planning & Zoning Minutes – September 2017

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
September 27, 2017

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, September 27, 2017, at the Brusly Town Hall. Commissioner LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Commissioner Guidry led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:

Commissioners:             Steve Guidry, Kim LeMoine, Steve Perkins, Claudette Purnell, Gary Soniat
Absent:                           Ronda Perrault, Jeff Travasos
Others Present:              Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Shane Sarradet, Roxanne & Dennis Jenkins

A motion to approve the minutes of the August 23, 2017, regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner Perkins and seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning:
Commissioner LeMoine read aloud the Variance Request from Richard Dayries for 2309 Live Oak Drive for Non-Compliance – Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 – to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 8.5’ and the rear setback from 10’ to 3’ to build an awning. Commissioner LeMoine referred the Commissioners to letters from the adjoining property owners stating there were no objections to the variance request. Hearing no further comments from the public, Commissioner Soniat offered a motion to recommend approval of the variance request to the Town Council; seconded by Commissioner Perkins. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner LeMoine read aloud the Variance Request from Roxanne Jenkins for 3220 Allene Street for Non-Compliance – Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 – to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 3’ to build an RV Cover. Mr. Dennis Jenkins explained his request to the Commission and offered the Commissioners a letter from the adjoining property owner stating there was no objection to the variance request. Mr. Jenkins also explained that the cover would be guttered to prevent any water from flowing onto his neighbor’s property. Hearing no further comments from the public, Commissioner Guidry offered a motion to recommend approval of the variance request to the Town Council; seconded by Commissioner Soniat. The motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner Perkins to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:39 PM.
