MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
June 24, 2020

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, June 24, 2020, at the Brusly Town Hall. Chairman LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Commissioner Purnell led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:

Commissioners:            Kim LeMoine, Ronda Perrault, Claudette Purnell, Gary Soniat, Jeff Travasos
Absent:                         Steve Guidry, Steve Perkins,
Others Present:             Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler

A motion to approve the minutes of the February 26, 2020, regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner Perrault and seconded by Commissioner Soniat. The minutes were approved unanimously.

There were no meetings for the months of March, April and May due to the Governor’s “COVID-19 Stay at Home” order.

Zoning:

Chairman LeMoine read aloud the variance request of Herbert Dugan at 341 Willow Oak Dr. for non-compliance of Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 Side Setback, to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 2’ to build an accessory structure. Commissioners discussed several aspects of the request and had questions about the variance, but no one was present to represent the applicant. A motion to table the variance was made by Commissioner Purnell; seconded by Commissioner Perrault. The motion passed unanimously.

Planning:

Public Hearing – Final Plat

Chairman LeMoine opened the Public Hearing for the Final Plat of Map Showing Survey & Two Minor Subdivisions of OD-4 of the Partition of the Adonis Thibodeaux Heirs Property into Lots , OD-4-A & OD-4-B located in Sec. 56, T-7-S, R-12-E, Southeast Land District, West of the Mississippi River, Town of Brusly, Parish of West Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana for Oscar Denham.

Mr. Court Bradford, representing Mr. Oscar Denham, presented and explained the Final Plat. Town of Brusly Public Works Director Shane Sarradet pointed out that the plat needed to include the existing drainage ditches crossing the property and Note #1 required additional wording stating any road construction had to be in compliance with the Town of Brusly Ordinance Code. Following discussion, Chairman LeMoine closed the Public Hearing and referred the matter to the Commission. A motion to recommend the plat to the Town Council, contingent upon the changes discussed, was made by Commissioner Perrault; seconded by Commissioner Travasos. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner Perrault to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Pernell to adjourn. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM.
