Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – June 2022

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
June 22, 2022

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, June 22, 2022, at the Brusly Town Hall. Chairman LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.  Commissioner Guidry led the Pledge of Allegiance.  A roll call determined the following officials present:

Commissioners:         Steve Guidry, Kim LeMoine, Steve Perkins, Ronda Perrault, Gary Soniat, Jeff Travasos
Absent:                       Claudette Purnell
Others Present:           Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Mr. & Mrs. Kandel Bynum, Steve Williams, Shane Sarradet

A motion to approve the minutes of the May 25, 2022, regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner Perrault and seconded by Commissioner Guidry. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning:  None

Planning:
Chairman LeMoine read aloud the variance request of Kandel Bynum, 2823 Orleans Qtrs., for Non-Compliance Sec. 120-52, Servitude Encroachment of 12’9” to build a pool & accessory structure. Public Works Director, Shane Sarradet, made a statement that the Town no longer needed the 27’ servitude to maintain drainage, 15’ would be adequate. Mr. Williams, a contractor representing Mr. Bynum, explained that culverts will be installed before any construction begins. Following a brief discussion, a motion to recommend the variance request to the Town Council was made by Commissioner Guidry; seconded by Commissioner Travasos. The motion passed unanimously.

Chairman LeMoine read aloud the variance request of Kandel Bynum, 2823 Orleans Qtrs., for Non-Compliance Sec. 120-145(3) R-1 Single Family Residential, Side Depth to reduce the side setback from 15’ to 7’6” to build an accessory open-sided accessory structure.  Mr. Williams, representing Mr. Bynum, explained the request. Mr. Bynum explained that the Orleans West HOA has approved the architectural change request and has provided a copy of the notice of decision. Following a brief discussion, a motion to recommend the variance request to the Town Council was made by Commissioner Travasos; seconded by Commissioner Perkins. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Travasos made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Soniat. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 PM.
