MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
February 27, 2019

The regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held this date, February 27, 2019, at the Brusly Town Hall. Chairman LeMoine called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Commissioner Purnell led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the following officials present:
Commissioners: Kim LeMoine, Ronda Perrault, Claudette Purnell, Gary Soniat
Absent: Steve Guidry, Steve Perkins, Jeff Travasos
Others Present: Joanne Bourgeois, Don Neisler, Paula & Richard Soniat

A motion to approve the minutes of the January 23, 2019, regular meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission, as written, was made by Commissioner Soniat and seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Zoning:
Chairman LeMoine read aloud the Variance Request from Cody Acosta for 253 W. Main Street for Non-Compliance – Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 – Side Setback – to reduce the Side Setback from 10’ to 2’, in order to place a metal building. Commissioners had concerns about the setback variance request, and as there were no representatives present to answer questions, no action was taken, and the matter was tabled until the March meeting.

Planning:
Public Hearing – Final Plat
Chairman LeMoine opened the Public Hearing for the Final Plat of Map Showing Resubdivision of Lots 7 & 8, Sq. 15, Town of Brusly, LA (Molaisonville) into Lots 7-A and 8-A, Sq. 15 in Section 15, T-8-S, R-12-E, Southeastern Land District, West of the Mississippi River, West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana for Richard G. Soniat. Mr. Richard Soniat described the plat and answered questions posed by the public and the Commission. Following discussion, Chairman LeMoine closed the Public Hearing and referred the matter to the Commission. A motion to recommend the plat for approval to the Town Council was made by Commissioner Purnell, seconded by Chairman LeMoine. Commissioner Soniat recused himself from the vote. The motion passed unanimously. However, upon discussion by the Commission regarding the required number of commissioners to constitute a quorum for voting purposes, it was determined that the matter will be referred to Tom Acosta, attorney for the Town of Brusly, for a decision.

A motion was made by Commissioner Soniat to adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Purnell. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:48 PM.
