Fire Department News

The Brusly Fire Department has received two grants during the month of September. The first grant is a Dow Community Grant to purchase a smoke cube that demonstrates to the children in our schools to stay low in a fire in order to exit a building full of smoke. The smoke cube also allows the children to teach the parents what they have learned and to reward the parents for doing well! How about that for roll reversal! The second grant is from The Louisiana Forestry Department in the amount of $3586.00 to buy new turnout gear for the volunteers. This year’s amount is double the normal amount due to other departments dropping out unable to qualify. So as you can see there is a lot going on.

This year’s Christmas Celebration and Parade will take place on December 7th 2003. The celebration begins at 9:00 am and the parade will roll at 1.00pm. This year the celebration will feature the silent auction and arts and craft show along with our usual giveaways and the ultimate competition- Town Hall becomes Firefighters. This event will see if the Mayor, Council Members, Maintenance Workers and of course Mr. Jules LeFeaux and the Ladies in the Office can do some simple, but scientific fire ground operations. There will be games for the whole family and fun for all.

The children in all of our schools are being taught RISK WATCH. This is a new curriculum dealing with injury prevention. So if your children talk about RISK WATCH, you will know what it’s all about. If you or your family is interested in having a HOME SAFETY SURVEY please call us at the station at 749-3233. It’s free and could save a life of a loved one or prevent injury before it happens.

Thank You for Your support. Yours in life safety and property conservation, The Brusly Fire Department.

P.S. Have you seen the new MINIPUMPER fire truck?
